This led to gradual weight gain and a sedentary lifestyle. A blood test revealed he was in the prediabetes stage, which was a wake-up call for a change.

Before joining the programme, I had really let things slide. Over the last two or three years, my exercise routine disappeared, and my diet became increasingly poor, full of sugary snacks. As a result, I gained weight and became more and more sedentary. Things came to a head when a blood test showed I was in the prediabetes stage. That was a wake-up call.

Since starting the Healthier You: NHS Diabetes Prevention Programme, I’ve completely changed my habits. Thanks to the information from the sessions, the group discussions, and the coach’s incredible knowledge, I’ve switched to a much healthier, more varied diet, reduced my portion sizes, cut out sugary snacks, and become far more active.

The results have been life changing. I’ve increased my daily exercise, lost 28.4kg (27.3%), and I feel full of energy. My recent blood test showed my HbA1C has dropped from 43 to 39, which is a huge improvement. I’m eating better, moving more, and feeling healthier than I have in years.
