Taking back control - Gary’s story

Garry joined the Healthier You: NHS Diabetes Prevention Programme after being referred by his doctor due to underlying health conditions linked to diabetes. Although not formally diagnosed as prediabetic, Garry was determined to take control of his health.

“Even before starting the programme, I’d made up my mind to get fit again. After my heart issue was resolved in December 2023, I rejoined my gym in January and started going four times a week. I also began walking more and playing golf twice a week. I changed my eating habits, smaller portions and less snacking. By the time I attended my first session in August, I’d already lost over 12kg.”
