Small changes towards a healthier future – Judith’s story

Before joining the Healthier You: NHS Diabetes Prevention Programme, Judith felt that she was unfit and wanted support. She joined the programme to make positive lifestyle changes and take steps towards reducing her risk of developing Type 2 diabetes.
“Before joining, I considered myself generally unfit. I knew there were areas of my lifestyle that I could improve, and taking part gave me the opportunity to become more aware of my health and the everyday choices I was making.”
The Healthier You: NHS Diabetes Prevention Programme supports people who are at risk of developing Type 2 diabetes to make positive, sustainable changes to their lifestyle. Through guidance and support around areas such as healthy eating and physical activity, the programme helps participants take positive steps towards reducing their risk and improving their long-term health.
“Since starting the programme, one of the biggest changes I’ve made has been to my eating habits. I’ve become more aware of what I’m eating and the choices I make, which has helped me to lose weight.”
“Taking part has made me more aware of my health generally. Making changes to my eating habits has shown me how everyday choices can make a difference and has encouraged me to think more carefully about looking after my health in the future.”
“I’ve had a really positive experience with the programme and would rate it five out of five. Seeing the positive results from changing my eating habits has encouraged me to continue being more mindful of my health and the choices I make.”
“Overall, the programme has helped me become more aware of my health and the changes I can make to support it. Losing weight has been a positive result for me, and I want to continue building on the changes I’ve already made.”
