Small changes, lasting benefits – Patricia’s story

Small changes, lasting benefits – Patricia’s story

Before joining the Healthier You: NHS Diabetes Prevention Programme, Patricia recognised that some of her lifestyle habits could be having a negative impact on her health. In particular, she felt she was drinking too much wine and wanted to better understand how her choices could affect her risk of developing Type 2 diabetes. Through the programme, she gained greater awareness of the positive changes she could make to support her long-term health and wellbeing.

Healthier You isn’t just about education, it’s about empowerment. You’ll learn how to make informed choices, understand your triggers, and develop a healthier mindset. Coaches provide encouragement and accountability, helping you stay motivated and confident. Whether you're just starting out or need help getting back on track, this programme gives you the tools to succeed.

“Before I started the programme, I was drinking too much wine and didn't really think about the impact it could have on my health. The programme helped me reflect on my habits and gave me the confidence to make changes that would benefit my health in the long term.”

“Since starting the programme, I have reduced my alcohol intake. This has been one of the biggest changes I've made and has helped me become more aware of the choices I make every day. I've found that making one positive change has encouraged me to think more carefully about other areas of my health and wellbeing too.”

“One of the biggest results I've noticed is that I have more energy than before. Having more energy has made it easier to stay active and continue with the healthier habits I've developed throughout the programme. I now feel much healthier; I make better choices and I'm more active. The programme has helped me understand how small changes can make a real difference and has given me the motivation to continue looking after my health in the future.”
