Making changes- Anne’s Story

 Making changes- Anne’s Story

After years of living with unhealthy habits, Anne knew it was time to make a change. She had struggled with lifestyle-related health risks and wanted to take control before things got worse. That’s when she joined the Healthier You: NHS Diabetes Prevention Programme, and it marked a turning point in her life.

“I knew I needed to do something. I wanted to feel better, move more, and reduce my risk of developing Type 2 diabetes.”

NDPP offers free, personalised support to help people at risk of Type 2 diabetes make lasting lifestyle changes. Through tailored group sessions, expert coaching, and practical advice on nutrition, physical activity, and wellbeing, participants are empowered to take charge of their health.

Anne was matched with a Health and Wellbeing Coach who helped her set achievable goals and stay motivated. With regular support and encouragement, Anne began to make small but powerful changes to her daily routine.

“I started walking more, eating better, and thinking differently about my health. The programme gave me the tools and confidence I needed. Over time, I noticed real improvements, not just in my physical health, but in mindset too. I’m more energetic, more positive, and more in control of my own future. I’m proud of how far I’ve come. I’ve made changes that I know I can stick to, and I feel so much better for it.”

Now, Anne is continuing her journey with a renewed sense of purpose and is encouraging others to take that first step.

“If you’re at risk, don’t wait. NDPP helped me — and it can help you too.”
