A sweet tooth – Linda’s story
Hear about Linda’s experience and the results she made after joining the Healthier You: NHS Diabetes Prevention Programme.
“Before joining the programme, I tried to eat a healthy diet, but I had a sweet tooth. I ate too many cakes, biscuits, toffees, and had sugar in my tea!
“I didn’t realise that I was on the border of becoming diabetic, although it does run in my family.”
Since joining the service, Linda has become more aware of the changes she has needed to make to reduce her chances of developing diabetes.
“I have now reduced my sugar intake and I am focusing on trying to eat a balanced diet. I get my steps in each day by taking the dog for a walk.
“Since attending the ‘Healthier You’ sessions, I’ve managed to lose a stone and a half in weight, and I feel much better in myself. The programme has made me more aware of what I was eating and how this had an impact on my health and has helped me to plan my meals to cut down on my calorie intake and lose weight.”
